My mom asked me if I had put Xavier in "time out" when she saw X in this chair over facing the window away from everyone else. I said no, he got in there of his own will. Guess he just wanted to check out the progress they are making on the new pool.
One of the decorations was this very large pink bunny. Xavier is partial to stuffed animals (much to my dismay for those that know how much I dislike stuffed animals) and thought this guy was pretty neat. He pulled it off the table and started running around the room hugging the bunny. All the old people got a kick out of it.
He didn't want to put it down to take a group picture. (note to self - don't depend on a teenage bus boy to take a stellar picture)

Since we went to the brunch right during X's usual nap time he fell sound asleep in the car after we left so we drove around and let him get a little car nap then ran a few errands. Walter and I watched The Hangover after the kids went to bed. We'd been trying to get it at a Redbox forever with no luck so we bit the bullet and paid $4 at Blockbuster. Oh well, at least it was funny!
Today was a go-go-go day as well. We went for the second week to another new church we've been trying out. They have an amazingly well organized and fabulous nursery setup. We're talking computerized check-in, age specific rooms, not broken toys, and a focused "curriculum" geared for each age. Being the socially challenged child that X is, I thought he'd never go in, but when we showed him the 2 year old room and asked him if he wanted to play in there, he said yes. So, we signed him up, put the little name tag on his back and off he went. They have a system where they assign you a number and if your child is having problems they flash your number up on the screen in the sanctuary so you can go get them. Well, guess who's number popped up 30 minutes into the service! Apparently X freaked out when they went from play time to story time. Truth be told I'm surprised he even made it that long, so it was still a success in my book. But, you might know that he was the ONLY child out of all the age groups who had to be "rescued" during the entire service.
After church we went home for lunch and then down to the clubhouse in our neighborhood to meet the Easter bunny and do an egg hunt. Shockingly, X was very excited to see the big bunny and even stood right up next to him and shook his hand. I tried to get a decent pic but X was so enamored with the bunny that he wouldn't stop looking at him (thus he wouldn't look at the camera).
X did a little coloring and then he and I made a craft.
The Easter egg hunt was pretty funny. Since it rained all morning and the grass was soaked, the "hunt" ended up being a bunch of eggs spread out on the tennis court and sidewalk. So, not really hidden. And that made for the fasted egg hunt I've ever seen as a mass of kids raced to pick up the fully visible eggs. X was oblivious to the concept and took his good ol sweet time going for eggs. This would be why he only ended up with 5 instead of the 15 that each child was allowed. Several kids tried to grab the eggs at his feet and were reprimanded by their parents. It was kind of funny because X really could have cared less if other kids took his eggs. All he needed was 1 in his hand to make him happy.
While we were there I entered the boys in the raffle. I put their names in the drawing without knowing what the prize was. I then turned around and realized that the prize for their age group was a GIGANTIC stuffed bunny. (Remember my dislike of stuffed animals??) We never win anything though so I didn't think it was a big deal. Well, I'm sure you can guess what happened next. WE WON THE DARN THING! That's right, X is now the proud owner of a life-size stuffed bunny complete with a carrot in its hand. X couldn't be happier, and me...well, let's just say I wouldn't be upset if it mysteriously found it's way to the "donate" pile here soon. Walter says that I'm cruel to want to deprive X of the joy of this larger than life pile of plush, but I just don't see it that way. Guess we'll agree to disagree - for now, X has his bunny.
