As if having small children doesn't expose me to enough bodily fluids.... X got the stomach flu last night. Poor kiddo!
I had just gotten in bed when i heard on the monitor "mommy mommy, my arms are dirty." Apparently he'd thrown up in his sleep, ALL OVER THE BED. He woke up and it was all over his arms. I quickly ushered him into my bathroom (I didn't want to wake Wesley who was sound asleep in his crib in the same room). I got X cleaned up and put him in my bed with Walter. I went to strip the bed and put everything in the washer (except for his pillow -- I just cut my losses on that one and tossed it in the trash!). When I came back in my room X was already back asleep, on my pillow right next to daddy. Clearly there was no room for me, so I headed to the couch. An hour later Elliott woke up, I got him resettled, and I returned to the couch. Thirty minutes later Walter comes and gets me saying X has thrown up ALL OVER OUR BED -- ugghhh! We strip the bed, change the laundry and get X settled on the couch with a movie (because he's wide awake now). The rest of the night consisted of Walter and I taking turns with X on the couch (and me getting up with Elliott too). It was a long night and we both only logged a couple hours of broken sleep.
By 7am X had stopped vomiting, had a low fever, and was moving around a bit. Then at 9am he fell asleep on the couch amongst the morning chaos. I moved him into his bed (which now had fresh sheets) and he took a FIVE HOUR nap. Sooooo needed (and I was soooo jealous that I didn't get one!) because he woke up feeling much better.
We are desperately hoping that no one else gets this (especially ME, because we all know when "the mom" is down for the count the world falls apart).
