A Sleeping Christmas and A Train Shop

I have almost no pictures of Christmas. It was just a bunch of sickness around here. Poor Xavier, every time we turned around we found him like this. He slept through our entire Christmas morning brunch. At one point he was sleeping about 12 hours at night and taking 2 naps each day.

We did go to my mom's house on Christmas Eve. The boys never got out of their pjs that day. X did come off the couch for a few minutes to sing Happy Birthday to me :)

A few days later when everyone was feeling a little better we went to a train store. So fun! My attempt to get a picture of all my boys...sigh :(

They had huge train tables set up for the kids to play on. And it was FREE!

It was nice to get our of the house after so many days of being cooped up!

December Random Recap

I took the boys to Walmart one day and apparently we have found a new place to play during the holiday season :) They LOVED these cars. Even baby brother got in on the action! I'll spare you the video that X made me take of him going in and out of each car.

To start the advent season off right, the women's ministry at our church puts on "Advent by Candlelight" each year. It's dinner, speakers, stories, and songs to get you focused on the real meaning to the season. I hosted a table this year and busted out my good china! Doesn't it look pretty :)

At the beginning of December I took a 36 hour weekend away with my friends Audrey and Leah. We decided to get some pedicures  -- oh it was heavenly!!!

Just another morning with the boys and their "jibbies".

It's nice to have memories of them watching TV sitting all cuddled up together. Helps me forget all the arguing moments in between.

We had a fun playdate with a friend. The boys decided to Trick or Treat so of course they needed costumes. I can barely get that Dracula costume on Xavier. He loves it, but it's like 3 sizes too small. Notice how it looks like capris???!!!!!!

I got myself dressed fairly decent one morning. Let's be real. Those days are few and far between. And wouldn't you know it that my plans for the morning got cancelled! What a waste of a good scarf tying.

Sick Little One

E Baby is one sick little guy right now. He has the flu and an ear infection. We are going on 6 days of off and on fevers, terrible sleep, puking, snot, coughing, you name it! At one point he couldn't even hold down water.

This is by far the sickest he's ever been. I'm feeling really lucky for that and know there could be far worse medical issues to deal with.

It's so sad to see your kiddo sick. I feel like I've just held him continuously for days. He hasn't played much and he's soooo crabby. He hasn't worn anything but pajamas since early last week - ha!

This was at 3am. He was screaming and finally stopped when I let him sit in my bathroom sink. Random, I know.

Throughout the week we have seen a few smiles here and there. Hopefully he'll turn a corner with this soon!

FIVE { Xavier }

Happy 5th Birthday to the sweet boy that made us parents! We love you so much Xavier!

Xavier has been asking for a stoplight cake for his birthday for at least 6 months. He was so excited with this! (He placed all the candles himself).

We didn't do a birthday party this year, but I was going to have 2 of his preschool friends over for a play date on his birthday since he doesn't have school on Monday's. Unfortunately I had to cancel that since Elliott is so sick (more on that later). Thankfully I hadn't told X ahead of time so he was none the wiser. We will have to reschedule.

Since E was sick, Grandma Debbie offered to take X and Wes out to lunch at Wendy's (their favorite place) to celebrate and then we had cake at home.

Can't believe we now have been parents for 1/2 of a decade. X was really looking forward to being 5. From the picture below it looks like he's all choked up about this big milestone!

Tis the Season....

...to scream at Santa!  Oh well, makes for a great picture as far as I'm concerned :)

Ribs

Walter's dad was in town Thanksgiving week and we made ribs one night. I was SHOCKED at how Elliott just tore into these suckers. He only has 6 teeth and has become somewhat of a picky eater lately. But apparently he knows good BBQ.

Out of the Mouth of Babes

Me: "Wes what do you want for snack? Bagel, apple, pretzels..."
Wes: "How about croutons?"
Me: "Ok whatever" (it had been a LONG day)
[As I'm getting the croutons in a little bowl]
Wes: "Mommy how's the croutons going?"
Me: "Just fine. Here ya go!"
Wes: "Mommy this crouton is you, this one's daddy, and this one looks like Elliott."
Me: "Uh, ok"

Xavier: "Mommy, when me and Wes and Elliott get to be adults and we all go to Starbucks together, would you please order 4 coffees?"
Me: "Why yes I will."

[While I ran in the house to drop off some groceries before going to the park]
Xavier: "Mommy, I'll stay in the car and watch the kids."
Wesley: "We are NOT kids, we are BOYS."

Me: "Wes, where do you want to go today?"
Wes: "To the Waffle House in Atlanta."

Wes: "This chip is broken. I want a fixin one."
[Apparently the opposite of broken is fixin.]

Xavier to Wes: "Wes, what are you doing?"
Wes: "Shhhh....don't talk to me while I'm eating."

Wes: "Mommy what is that?"
Me: "Rubbing Alcohol"
Wes: "Can I rub out the hog too?"

Xavier: "Mommy, um..um..if daddy was putting Elliott to bed and you were outside working on the roof and you fell off the roof, um...that would be an emergency."
Me: "Yes I guess it would."

Wes: "Mommy why is that baby over there crying?" (we were at a restaurant)
Me: "I don't know."
Wes: "Well, why don't you go check it out."
