9 Month Checkup

Xavier had his 9 month checkup on Tuesday. He is a proud 22 lbs 3 oz now and over 29 inches long. I guess working on his solid food has helped him because he gained over 5 lbs in 3 months and grew 2 1/2 inches! Our little man did well with the 2 shots that he got and received a clean bill of health from the doctor. We were given the go ahead to introduce some dairy (but not straight milk) into his diet, so we'll be trying out yogurt and cheese pretty soon. Xavier had his first taste of black beans and cornbread yesterday and seemed to enjoy both. His favorite fruits right now seem to be bananas and pears. He's started cruising around the coffee table and is getting pretty fast with his push cart. My munchkin seems to be growing up quickly the past few weeks. I think it's the fact that he's becoming a little more independant - likes to feed himself, scoots around, walks with help, etc. Here's a cute pic of him sitting in the trunk of my car the other day. Thanks to Grandma Dee for the great garage sale find shoes!

A Little Help Here Please!

Xavier likes his exersaucer but sometimes just isn't that keen on staying in it. The other day I sat him NEXT to the exersaucer so he could still reach the toys on top. Somehow he got himself into this position....I'm not used to such a mobile child yet so I was quite surprised that he could do this. Once there he suddenly realized he was stuck and started crying. I helped him let go but wanted to see what he'd do next.....

Maybe he thought it was like a tornado drill in school where you duck and cover under your desk. At any rate this was short lived because he cried again and I finally pulled him out. Silly kid!

Baby Mama and Cobbler

Now that we are parents of a child who goes to bed at 8pm it doesn't leave much for nightlife. So, last Friday night our exciting outing was walking from the kitchen to the living room. We watched Baby Mama, which I thought was pretty funny and would recommend.

And what goes better with a movie than a dish of peach cobbler. This is the EASIEST thing you will ever bake.

Here is the recipe....
1 Jiffy Yellow Cake mix
1 lb frozen peaches (ours were from our very own peach crop this past summer!)
1 cup diet sprite (or regular if you want the added calories)

Spread the frozen peaches on the bottom of an 8x8 pan.
Sprinkle the dry cake mix over the peaches.
Pour the soda over the mix.
Bake 30 minutes covered at 350.
Bake an additional 40 minutes uncovered at 350.

Let cool and enjoy! This is also fabulous with frozen mixed berries instead of peaches.

Clapping

It seems like lately X is doing something new every day. Last week he learned how to clap his hands and it has quickly become his favorite activity. It's really cute to watch because he just seems so proud of himself. Since it's hard to catch it in motion with a still camera and we don't have a video camera (I know....we should really get one!) here are 2 shots that sum up the action.

Sound Asleep

Xavier mostly sleeps in his crib these days for naps. Long gone are the days of just random falling asleep anywhere at any time like when he was a newborn. Or so I thought. When I get dressed in the mornings I set him up with some toys in our bedroom so he can see and hear me. He usually plays pretty contently. Today when I turned off the blow dryer I looked over and found him sound asleep in the middle of his toys.

I figured if he was comfy enough to fall asleep I'd just leave him there. He slept like this for over an hour. I had to keep checking on him since there is no baby monitor in there, and when he finally woke up he just started rolling around and playing with the binky like he hadn't missed a beat!

Off to Work

Xavier woke up early today - 5:30am -- geeh! The only good thing about it is that he got to spend a little time with Walter and see him off to work.

Helping daddy eat his cereal.

Let's see what you're taking for lunch

Bye daddy, have a good day!

Welcome to our Blog!

I'm jumping on the "blog bandwagon". I'm addicted to reading other people's blogs, so I thought I'd give it a try. I hope our life is interesting enough to actually have some things to write about once in awhile. Oh well, if nothing else I'll just post pictures of Xavier cause he's so cute!
