Me: "Wes what do you want for snack? Bagel, apple, pretzels..."
Wes: "How about croutons?"
Me: "Ok whatever" (it had been a LONG day)
[As I'm getting the croutons in a little bowl]
Wes: "Mommy how's the croutons going?"
Me: "Just fine. Here ya go!"
Wes: "Mommy this crouton is you, this one's daddy, and this one looks like Elliott."
Me: "Uh, ok"
Xavier: "Mommy, when me and Wes and Elliott get to be adults and we all go to Starbucks together, would you please order 4 coffees?"
Me: "Why yes I will."
[While I ran in the house to drop off some groceries before going to the park]
Xavier: "Mommy, I'll stay in the car and watch the kids."
Wesley: "We are NOT kids, we are BOYS."
Me: "Wes, where do you want to go today?"
Wes: "To the Waffle House in Atlanta."
Wes: "This chip is broken. I want a fixin one."
[Apparently the opposite of broken is fixin.]
Xavier to Wes: "Wes, what are you doing?"
Wes: "Shhhh....don't talk to me while I'm eating."
Wes: "Mommy what is that?"
Me: "Rubbing Alcohol"
Wes: "Can I rub out the hog too?"
Xavier: "Mommy, um..um..if daddy was putting Elliott to bed and you were outside working on the roof and you fell off the roof, um...that would be an emergency."
Me: "Yes I guess it would."
Wes: "Mommy why is that baby over there crying?" (we were at a restaurant)
Me: "I don't know."
Wes: "Well, why don't you go check it out."

All Things Pumpkin
It's been a busy October and the boys have been OBSESSED with all things relating to pumpkins and Halloween. Wesley has even been sleeping with his plastic pumpkin bucket.
Earlier in the month I took the kids to our favorite pumpkin patch that we've been going to since X's first Halloween. This year we brought along some family friends, Hannah and Jake, to share in the fun.
Earlier in the month I took the kids to our favorite pumpkin patch that we've been going to since X's first Halloween. This year we brought along some family friends, Hannah and Jake, to share in the fun.
Later that weekend our church hosted its pumpkin festival. Wes was sick so only X and I went. He had fun and a friend's daughter, who is also in X's class, ran around with us there. The following week I took X and W to a different pumpkin patch with our MOPS group. My mom was kind enough to keep E so I could focus on having fun with the older boys.
Xavier also had his fall party at school. Wes came along with me. That was a mistake. It said siblings were welcome to come, but they could only supply enough snacks and crafts and favors for the kids in the class. I understand that, but at 2 years old Wes did not. He felt left out and got upset. Plus the room mom was kind of snippy when I let Wes participate in some of the games the kids were playing. I wanted to say "Geesh lady, it's only a stinkin game of bean bag toss at a preschool party!!!!" But I didn't :) I'll be going alone for any future parties.
At this point Walter hadn't gotten to partake in any of our pumpkin activities (cause someone has to bring home the bacon, ya know!) So the weekend before Halloween we went back to the pumpkin patch AGAIN. And I managed not to get a single picture of Walter or I at the pumpkin patches this year and no family picture either. Geesh :(
The barrel cars (or "barrow cars" as the boys called them) were the hit of the season. That's all they talked about for weeks on end. Comparing which pumpkin patch barrel cars were their favorite, what color, what type of steering wheel, whether it was pulled by a gator or a tractor, etc. Walter is actually considering bringing home a barrel from work and making them one of their very own. Finally last night was Halloween. The boys had a blast although X was tired because he was up early that morning. Xavier was a stoplight, Wesley was a fireman, and Elliott was a frog. I thought they were pretty cute :)
We ordered pizzas (which we ended up getting for free since they lost our order and it took 1 1/2 hours to get them) and the grandparents and Uncle Brett came over. Trick or treating with our favorite neighbor was fun and we went farther in the neighborhood than years past. The boys wanted to go up to this house that we see every time we leave our subdivision. It had a huge spider on the garage, a ghost hanging between two trees and a blow up hearse with Dracula coming out of a coffin. So we went (and ended up having to carry Wes most of the way back to our street). Disregard the reflection of Wes' stripes on his fireman jacket- ha!
So now today it's all over. I'm ready to pack away the Halloween stuff and filter out all the candy that I don't want the boys to eat. I'm not a total mean mom. I'll let them have a few pieces, but they got WAY more than their little bodies can handle. In case you want to see how the boys have grown, here's a few other Halloween costume posts. Take note that ALL the boys have gotten to be the frog. I love that! Halloween 2008 Halloween 2009 Halloween 2010 Halloween 2011 | |||||||
